H3 The Ultimate Prairies Day Trip

At Seager Wheeler Farm, history is under your feet and in the air. Whether you want a deep dive with an expert or a quiet wander on your own terms, we’ve designed our tours to help you disconnect from the digital noise and reconnect with the land.

H3 Bring The Whole Crew

There is nothing quite like hearing a story from someone who knows every floorboard and fence post. Our guided tours are more than just facts—they are conversations.

Best for: The Curious Mind, Social & School Groups

The Deep Dive: Let our guides walk you through the 1908 homestead, the world-famous orchards, and the historic seed labs. We handle the storytelling and the engagement. You get an outdoor classroom that covers history, biology, and heritage in one afternoon.

H3 Your Phone, Our History

Don’t want to stick to a schedule? Our brand-new Self-Guided Experience puts the "Wheat King’s" story right in your pocket.

Best for: The Independent Explorer & Modern History Buff

How it works: Look for the QR codes located at key landmarks across the farm. Simply scan with your smartphone to unlock rich audio narratives, archival photos, and "hidden" stories about the buildings and gardens.

Why you’ll love it: You can linger in the English gardens for an hour or zip through the seed-cleaning plant in ten minutes. It’s professional-grade storytelling at your own pace.

Dr. Seager Wheeler

Meet the "Wheat King of the Prairies"

History isn't just about dates and documents—it's about the people who rolled up their sleeves and built the future. When you visit our farm, you are walking in the very footsteps of Dr. Seager Wheeler, a man whose dedication and curiosity forever changed Canadian agriculture,

Imagine arriving in Saskatchewan as a teenager, breaking the land by hand, and living in a simple dirt "soddy." That was Seager Wheeler in 1885. Without formal agricultural training, he taught himself the principles of dryland farming. Through relentless trial and error in his gardens and orchards, he figured out exactly how to make the harsh prairie soil thrive.
